You could freeze meats (which will thaw by lunch) or put a freezer pack in your lunch.

For the ultimate low carb, high nutrition, convenience food, I recommend chia seeds mixed with a green drink.

I make a green drink with 2 tablespoons each of spirulina, chlorella, wheat grass & kelp with lemon juice & stevia & add rehydrated chia seed gel and drink this all day.

I make a “porridge” with low carb whey powder & water, I add ground flax seeds, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds & raw egg. All seeds & nuts are raw & soaked to germinate them.

Chia seeds sound expensive but 1# will make 10# food. I buy mine in bulk for $ 5# with free shipping at getchia.com

The best way to break the carb addiction is NO carbs for 3 days. Make a huge batch of deviled eggs, eat one every time you want “something” – have huge omelets with bacon, sausage, peppers, mushrooms & cheese. Meats smothered with peppers, mushrooms & cheese – pork rinds & dip or tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salad – sugar free cheese cake. Eat so much you won’t feel deprived of anything. By the 4th day, the addiction will be gone & you can start making healthy choices.

Every day you should be eating these 2 items. If you need additional fat or calories, you can add a tablespoon of virgin coconut oil to the ground flax seed cereal. I highly recommend virgin coconut oil for people needing quick energy – coconut oil is the only fat that is converted to quick energy like a carb.

Half an avocado mashed with mayo seasoned with cayenne & eaten with pork rinds or celery.

Ground flax seed (4 Tbsp) 1/4 cup water, artificial sweetener, mix in a raw egg – let sit 10 min. to absorb liquid, put some cream cheese in the middle & nuke 2 min for daily fiber needs. Flax seed should be eaten daily even in induction.

The first 2 weeks, you can have several cups of salad a day – Bacon, lettuce & a lil tomato with avocado/mayo dressing is my fav. Jicama, cucumber, celery & radish marinated in sesame oil & hot pepper flakes with rice wine vinegar & artificial sweetener. Make a stir fry with Bok Choy, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, celery, mushrooms, shirataki noodles. I love eggs & could eat deviled eggs every day. You can smother omelets & meats with mushrooms, peppers & cheese. Meatzza – Meatloaf with pizza toppings. I like thin sausage patties fried crispy with pizza toppings. Pork rinds & celery sticks are great crunch and can be eaten with dips (avocado/mayo/cayenne) & tuna/chicken/turkey/egg salads. I love my rotisserie & it makes meats tasty. I cook a turkey often & make soup with the bones & turkey salads. I’ll cube up some turkey meat mix in a couple of raw eggs add cheese & broccoli with cayenne powder & nuke 2 minutes for instant meal.

After 2 week, you add 5 grams of carbs per day every week & add greater variety of non starchy vegetables. Change your mindset – adapt what you like to eat to low carb -
replace bread with lettuce
replace pasta with cabbage
replace rice with cauliflower
replace potatoes with brocolli
Cabbage makes a good pasta substitute. Make lasagna with blanched cabbage leaves & thinly fried eggplant instead of noodles. Sugar free pasta sauce over fried cabbage. My fav is chicken cacciatore, I add greens & flaxseed for body & add pizza toppings too. Alfredo sauce is also low carb.

I make a lot of shredded cabbage & mayo or fried cabbage if I’m a bit more ambitious. I fry up bacon & onions & it makes any salad special (BLT) Avocado & turkey – grilled chicken – fajita meat & fried onions is great also. I’ll make a salad with 6 cans: mackerel, baby corn, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, artichoke hearts, sweet red peppers & add mayo & chia seed gel.

Kim Chee is fermented cabbage & one of the healthiest foods. You can make a huge batch & it will sit in refrigerator fine for a long time.

I make huge batches of food & freeze most of it. Go into the forums for recipes – I was shocked that fried “rice” made with grated cauliflower tasted like it’s name sake – faux mashed “taters” made with cauliflower & cream cheese – “potato” salad using cauliflower instead. Shirataki noodles are traditional in Japanese sukiyaki & low carb

I order off Amazon – Lowrey’s Pork Rinds 18 for $ 15 – they pop like popcorn & are portion controlled.

Faux tapioca – 2 cups of water, 5 scoops of low carb whey protein powder, stir together & add cup of chia seeds, after they have started to absorb the water, add in 2 cans of coconut milk (or cream & added water) & artificial sweetener if you like & mix it all in. Cream a pkg. of cream cheese into a can of pumpkin & add for pumpkin pie pudding.

(berries are lowest glycemic) Cheesecake – strawberry ice cream (frozen berries, cream, a stick blender) – i eat lots of fish for snack (fish “steaks” or mackerel in tins are favs)- olives

Q&A: Low-carb, egg free breakfast?

Low-carb, egg free breakfast?
Help! My husband has gone low-carb, and doesn’t like eggs (or sausage). This makes making breakfast for him an absolute nightmare. Aside from yogurt and smoothies, I am totally lost, and he isn’t helping. Does anyone have any ideas/recipes for low-carb, no egg breakfast or brunch?

Answer by ~Susakins~
I AM LOW CARBING ALSO and sorry to say – eggs are a main part of it.

I love to cook ham steaks – that is a good idea.

If he likes fruit (well these ones) have him eat about a cup or half a cup in the morning. These are all fine on a low carb diet.

Watermelon
Strawberries
Melon Dew
Blueberries / ANY BERRIES ACTUALLY!!!
Apricots.

Low Carb for bodybuilding?
Gday all. Ive been a low carb diet (less than 100g per day) and high protein for the last 3 weeks. I do the low carbs for 6 out of the 7 days and have a cheat day once a week. My goal is to get shredded. I started at 90kgs and Im now 84kgs with more definition. I have whey and casein protein, glutamine, multivitmains and caffeine as well as flaxseed oil. Ive seen to hit a wall. i cant get lower than 84kgs. i wanna get to 76-77 kgs and keep the muscles. Any diet suggestions? I do morning cardio on an empty stomach as well. please help as im dedicated. thanks
Sounds good. Someone suggested i might be gain muscle as well as losing weight. I cant tell cause in Oz we only have skin folds and not underwater fat testing. Ive heard that as well with the blow your muscle up thing. Im really getting into bodybuilding finally and i like the results and discipline. Thanks brotha

ok first of all ditch the low carb completely. what you want to do is control when you eat your carbs for max performance. its better to eat carbs before your workout or workouts and perhaps after then to not. running on empty will make u perform poorly. jsut dont overdo the carbs and manipulate when you eat them. the rest of the day is lean meat and lots of veg. your (cheat day) is a good idea as this will pump your muscles up with a high carb intake (sounds funny i know) just be sure not to go nuts. as you gain muscle and lose weight you wont lose much. just judge how ripped you think you are. but depending on your size that weight is fairly decent. try to mix up your workouts to. this might be hard if your like me. i hate changing my workout when you have seen results. but your body actually learns what your doing and when your doing it and adapts. thus youll stop gaining muscle and perhaps lose less weight. mix it up.

Q&A: What is your favorite low carb dish?

What is your favorite low carb dish?
I’m not on the Atkins Diet but am eating low carb. I would love it if anyone could share their favorite low carb dishes, from appetizers to dessert! I’ll share one of mine! I cut chicken breast into cubes, saute in olive oil, add sun dried tomatoes, steamed broccoli, and just enough balsamic (low fat) vinaigrette to coat and a few generous splashes of balsamic vinegar, top with goat cheese and dig in! :)
Darian, that is not low carb at all!~ lol, but I’ll take the wine for sure! :)
Thanks so much cindy! It looks I will be buying some cabbage today! :)
Awesome! Thank you Miss L!! If you like Kabobs you need to make Giada’s Parsley marinated Beef Pops! They are amazing!! The marinade is olive oil, garlic, parsley and red wine vinegar, grind it in the food processor until it’s a liquid, Pour over cubed filet and marinate for a couple hours. Skewer with fresh pineapple and grill! They are incredible. The exact recipe is on Foodtv.com ENJOY THEM! :)

low carb sauce thickener?

low carb sauce thickener?
I posted a question about tonight’s dinner (http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AltYWUODVyWZ27cMkFhpzkDty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20101016062104AAEWLdB ) and people said the carb content was too high, so i wondered if anyone knew how i could thicken a white sauce without using flour

Answer by BabeHart
Put your search engine to work (as I just did for you)…I found a site with some suggestions http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/cooking/a/locarbthickener.htm and you can look for others…I simply searched on ‘low carb sauce thickener’ (no quotes)…

When I was low carb dieting a friend bought a boxed product that she used for breading chicken and in anything that required flour, but I don’t remember what it was called…I now just try to eat well and in moderation and don’t stress about carbs so much (just avoid white flour, sugar…the refined stuff)..
